Raised in the Finger Lakes region of upstate New York, Bridgid began violin lessons at the tender age of 3. She went on to receive a full scholarship from Syracuse University, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in violin and oboe performance and her master’s degree in music education. In the role of educator, Bridgid directed public school orchestra programs in upstate New York and Boston, MA for over 10 years. Her students have consistently performed at the highest level in state competitions and solo adjudications. Her orchestras have been invited to perform in such prestigious venues as Boston’s Symphony Hall and the Schoenbrunn Palace in Vienna, Austria. Her students performed in the same hall where a young Mozart premiered his opera The Impresario.
Having realized the importance of integrating alternative styles and improvisation into school orchestra programs, Bridgid joined forces with Mark Wood Music Productions and Wood Violins in August 2007 and has been trained by Mark in his groundbreaking educational methods in conjunction with his Electrify Your Strings!™ series of music education programs. She now travels the country with her Viper, sharing her passion for music of all genres with orchestra students in public schools all over the US. In addition to the EYS programs, Bridgid has taught at the Mark Wood Rock Orchestra Camp, several camps presented by the American String Teachers’ Association, the Cayman Island Music Camp, and Strings Without Boundaries at Duquesne University. Bridgid has conducted honors orchestras for the Western Tennessee School Band and Orchestra Association and the New York State School Music Association. She has presented workshops and clinics to music educators nationwide at numerous conferences at the state and national level.
